Sports Massage / Deep Tissue Massage Sports massage and Deep Tissue massage are helpful for more than just sports people. This treatment is aimed at individuals who regularly participate in sport or physical activity, as well as those who experience muscular pain or tightness from their day to day activities. The massage techniques manipulate soft tissue which will help improve and restore correct muscle function, relieve tightness, increase flexibility and blood flow, as well as removing waste products.
Exercise Rehabilitation Exercise rehabilitation is perhaps the most important area of recovery from injury and pain. It is vital to gradually and progressively rebuild and reeducate the body back to its former status, and beyond. We build rehabilitation programmes for all stages of recovery from the initial injury all the way through to the functional training. This will include exercises to boost strength, endurance, balance, proprioception, flexibility and the functional needs of the individual. This can include postural analysis and correction.
Joint mobilisations are gentle mobilisations that help to regain normal pain free ranges of movement. The joint mobilisations aim to increase range of motion, reduce pain and stiffness.
Biomechanical Running Gait Analysis
In this session we will analyse your running technique from head to toe. We will capture slow motion video footage of you running on a treadmill from different angles to identify any movement inefficiencies, weaknesses and imbalances that may lead to injury, be preventing you from running faster, or preventing progress with your running.
A full detailed report document will then be provided for you highlighting the key findings from the analysis, alongside recommendations for how to improve your running technique.
Ultrasound Therapy is a treatment method used on soft tissue (muscle, tendon and ligaments) to promote healing processes. The Therapeutic Ultrasound waves penetrate through the skin to stimulate the targeted soft tissue, promoting the bodies production of cellular repair substances and the healing process.
Kinesiology taping helps to reduce pain, swelling and inflammation and aids correct function of muscles, tendons and ligaments.
The application of acupuncture needles to soft tissue can help aid pain relief, reduce muscular tension, increase the production of endorphins and anti-inflammatory substances.
Graduate Sports Therapists, like ourselves, have completed a 3 year degree programme at a University affiliated with the Society of Sports Therapists. The degree includes thorough coverage of anatomy, physiology, exercise physiology, biomechanics, fitness training, treatment and management of sports injuries, rehabilitation programming and strength & conditioning amongst many other things.
A Sports Therapist will assess an injury, provide suitable treatment modalities alongside an exercise rehabilitation programme and help you return to full pain free fitness.
